Ginnie Alcindor

Ginnie AlcindorGinnie started singing with Kent County Junior Choir at the tender age of twelve and worked her way through the Kent Youth Singers, Choir & Chamber Choir. At the age of 25 it was then time for her to ‘hang up’ her vocal chords, as she was deemed to OLD and was no longer considered 'youth'! Thankfully several members wanted to continue the regular sing-song and so the Knole Singers was born.

She has enjoyed performing in many beautiful countries and cathedrals some of her favourites being: The Royal Festival Hall; St Mark’s, Venice & York Minster. She has also been a member of other choirs including The Academic Scholars & an occasional singer with the Vasari Singers. Since the age of eight she has been involved with several musical theatre societies. Some of her favourite roles to date are: Aunt Eller – Oklahoma; Bobby – City of Angels; Chrissy – Hair; Sonia – Godspell; The Baker’s Wife – Into The Woods (for which she won Outstanding Actress Award for Performing Arts Alliance, S.E. Pennsylvania). The most recent were with Twickenham Operatic Society – Doris in 42nd Street, where she got to tap dance again after 12 years and Rifka in Fiddler on the Roof. She has finally found a new group local to her and is looking forward to treading the boards with them in October.

Since leaving Oxford Brookes University in 1998, where she studied Music & Publishing, and auditioning (but failing) for the West End shows – JCS & Rent, she’s had several occupations – each different and nothing to do with her degree. She worked: in a pub; for a publishing company; as an administrator & secretary for a house building company before finally being trained as a foreman working on building sites. She has just managed to get a job back on a building site in Waterloo, after having almost 18 months off to be a housewife and look after her first child, George, who was born in Jan 2005. She was, once, one of the social animals of the choir. Unfortunately her 30 years has finally caught up with her and she struggles to keep up with the other more youthful members of the choir & stay awake during social hours!!!

Ginnie is now living back in Kent with Steve and their son George.

Katrina Maguire

Katrina MaguireKat has just qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, where she studied for what seemed like an eternity. She has veered towards the a small animal side of the profession, and is now working in Torquay as a veterinary surgeon. Her ambition is to become a specialist in either internal medicine or clinical pathology and to, at some point, complete a PhD so that everyone will have to call her "Dr Maguire." When Kat isn't squeezing glands or castrating unsuspecting dogs and cats, she can be found tinkling pianos, strumming guitars and singing, and so she has been a member of the Knole Singers for 4 years. She has to sing second alto, as really she is a tenor in female form.

Liz Samson

Liz SamsonLiz Samson has sung with the Knole Singers since they were formed in 2000. She managed to gradually work her way down to her favourite position as 2nd Alto. Liz sang with Kent County Choirs since the age of 12, eventually leaving the Kent Youth Choir and Kent Youth Chamber Choir in 2003. She now works as a supervisor on Kent Choirs day and residential courses and has attended a number of tours, both as a choir member and as staff. Liz completes her MA in film studies this September at UKC and is then studying for a PhD in the ideology of film sound production at Christ Church University.
